The Canadian podiatric community remembers Dr. Robert Richard Brain, a respected practitioner, former OPMA president, and dedicated advocate for the profession whose contributions helped shape podiatry in Ontario.

It is with sadness that we share the passing of Dr. Robert Richard Brain of Belleville, Ontario, who entered into rest on October 21, 2020, in his 94th year.

Dr. Brain practiced podiatry in Belleville for 36 years and was a respected leader within the profession. Many colleagues will remember his dedication to advancing podiatric medicine through his service as President of the Ontario Podiatric Medical Association (OPMA) and as a leader of the profession's governing body, then known as the Board of Regents.

He is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn, with whom he shared 69 years of marriage; his children, Marie Wallace and Dr. Martin Brain; his grandchildren, Michael, Devon, and Sarah; and several great-grandchildren.
